NahuaPDF is a free PDF viewer and editor for Windows and Linux. Open your documents in tabs, fill in forms, organize pages and turn photos into PDFs, with no accounts and no ads.
What you can do
- Open several PDFs in tabs, with search, thumbnails, links and reading mode.
- Read two to four documents side by side: drag a tab to the side of another document and arrange them as you like.
- Fill in forms and create new ones.
- Reorder, rotate, delete, extract, split and merge pages, and insert images.
- Make a PDF from photos: crop and rotate them and adjust brightness, contrast and saturation first.
- Read two pages at a time in book mode, with page turns and bookmarks.
- Print with a preview, copies and orientation.
- Open Amatl smart books, which bundle a PDF with interactive markers that open videos, audio and images.
- Use it in Spanish, English, Nahuatl, Maya, Otomi, French, German, Chinese or Japanese.
Your files stay on your computer
NahuaPDF opens, edits and saves documents on your computer and doesn't upload them anywhere. It only goes online to check, once a day, whether nahua.io has a new version. You can turn that off in Settings › Updates.
Installing it
- On Windows, the installer doesn't ask for administrator rights. In Settings › Files you can make NahuaPDF the app that opens your PDFs; File Explorer then shows each PDF's first page as its thumbnail.
- On Linux, the .deb package adds NahuaPDF to the menu and to the file types. The AppImage runs without installing.
- If NahuaPDF is already open, PDFs you open from the file manager are added as tabs.
Also in your browser

Requirements
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
- 64-bit Linux with GTK 3 and glibc 2.34 or later: Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, Linux Mint 21 or newer
- On Linux, zenity or kdialog to pick files
How to install
Windows: open the .exe installer. It isn't digitally signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click “More info” and then “Run anyway”. It doesn't ask for administrator rights.
Ubuntu, Debian and Mint: open the .deb file to install it with the software center, or in a terminal: sudo apt install ./nahuapdf_*_amd64.deb
Other distributions: make the AppImage executable (Properties › Allow executing, or chmod +x in a terminal) and open it. Settings › Files › Use NahuaPDF to open PDFs adds it to the menu and makes it the app for PDFs.
What’s new in 0.9.1
- Adds side-by-side reading: two to four documents next to each other, arranged by dragging their tabs to the side of another document, with a bar to search them all, fit their pages and turn pages together.
- Moves each page to its new place when side-by-side reading opens or closes, and turns the blank sheet into the document as it opens.
- Opens the window where you left it; the first time, large but not maximized.
- The fit button switches between the whole page and filling the view.
- Asks before closing with unsaved changes, and gives every screen its title bar.…
